NEIGHBORHOOD STORAGE LIFTS UP PUBLIC SCHOOLS DURING TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
Ocala, Fla. (May 4, 2021) – Neighborhood Storage has been the business partner of South Ocala Elementary School for years. When South Ocala hosts Muffins with Moms, Neighborhood Storage is there to support. When South Ocala needs community members to judge their annual science fair, Neighborhood Storage finds them. And every year, during Teacher Appreciation Week, Neighborhood Storage sponsors a luncheon to help show South Ocala teachers and staff how much their important work is valued.
In April, Neighborhood Storage discovered that there are seven public schools in Marion County that do not have a current business partner, and so President and CEO, Todd Rudnianyn, responded by offering to make a donation of funds to each of the schools to help pay for Teacher Appreciation Week events and activities. “This has been a tough year for everyone, but especially for our public school teachers,” Rudnianyn said. “This year, maybe more than ever, teachers need to know that this community sees them and appreciates them.”
Emerald Shores Elementary, Greenway Elementary, Harbour View Elementary, Horizon Academy, Legacy Elementary, North Marion High, and Ocala Springs Elementary are the seven schools that do not currently have business partners. Meghan Magamoll, Executive Director of the Public Education Foundation of Marion County, communicated to the principals at these schools last week that they would be receiving support from Neighborhood Storage to help fund teacher appreciation events. “These schools were so touched and so grateful that Neighborhood Storage thought about them during Teacher/Employee Appreciation Week,” said Magamoll. “This is the kind of good that can happen when our local business community champions our public schools.”
A Business Partnership is a mutually supportive arrangement between a business and a school (or school district), in which the partner and the school commit to specific goals and activities, intended to enhance educational opportunities to benefit students and/or teachers. The Public Education Foundation of Marion County facilitates this process in the form of an agreement called the Business Partnership Agreement. The focus of partnerships differs for each company and school, but all partnerships share a common commitment to improving education. Individual schools and their community partners develop activities at their own pace, consistent with their needs and resources. Neighborhood Storage finished construction of its first facility in 1979 with the intent of providing quality storage and service to the Ocala/Marion County area. The local company – still family owned and operated – has since evolved into the largest self storage provider in the region – with 25 facilities over 1,000,000 square feet of rentable self storage and commercial spaces – and is one of the most recognizable and trusted local business brands in Ocala.
