Support for Students & Future Educators – Give4Marion – September 21st

Support for Students & Future Educators – Give4Marion – September 21st

For the past two years, the Public Education Foundation of Marion County participated in the annual Give4Marion campaign, hosted by the Ocala Marion County Community Foundation, which supports the work of local not-for-profits. For this year’s Give4Marion campaign, the PEFMC will focus their efforts on specifically raising scholarship funds for both their Take Stock in Children program and the Teacher to Be program.
The Take Stock in Children scholarship program provides 2 year college tuition scholarships for low-income, at-risk youth in Marion County Public Schools. Students are identified during their 8th grade year, and once accepted into the Take Stock program, they sign a performance contract. Students earn a college scholarship after completing five years of the program requirements, including mentorship activities and college coaching. Program application information will be available in October through each middle school guidance department.
The Teacher to Be Scholarship Program provides up to $2,500 in financial support to Marion County Public School non-instructional personnel who are enrolled in college with the goal of becoming a teacher. The deadline for scholarship applications is September 30th, 2022. Application information can be found online at https://pefmc.org/scholarships/
“Both the Take Stock in Children Scholarship program and the Teacher to Be Scholarship program are investments in the students and staff of Marion County Public Schools. While Teacher To Be promotes the goal of ‘growing our own’ teachers, the Take Stock program promotes students breaking the cycle of poverty through educational advancement. Through the Give4Marion campaign, we are asking our supporters to consider giving for students, for teachers, and for our community.” shared Meghan Magamoll, Executive Director of the Public Education Foundation.
The virtual Give4Marion Campaign runs for 33 hours and ends on September 21st at 7pm. If interested in supporting the efforts of the Public Education Foundation, online donations can be made on at the Give4Marion Campaign site at https://www.give4marion.org/organizations/public-education-foundation-of-marion-county .
